Our NDH37 guest was Jim Archer. Jim is the director of this year's breakout Sundance hit Brian & Charles.
Written by & starring David Earl as the eccentric inventor and David Hayward as his new robot friend Charles Petrescu, who keeps him company in his rural Welsh cottage. The project started life as a short film in 2018 and is a great story of the progression from short to feature within the UK production landscape.
Jim started his career directing short films which earned him three 'Vimeo Staff Picks' and earned him gold at the 'Young Director Awards' in Cannes for the short filmversion of 'Brian and Charles'. Which then went onto become a feature film of the same name and premiered at Sundance 2022. For TV he has directed episodes of 'The Young Offenders' and most recently directed the full series of the hit Channel 4 show 'Big Boys'. As a writer he has a number of projects in development, notably another adaptation of one of his short films 'Down From London' with Film4.
